Korean movies never cease to amaze me. Their stories are so dramatic and genuine. After row after row watching the same Holywood styles, watching a Korean movies is really like a drop of water in the dessert, so refreshing. This is the impression that I got from watching Park Chan-wook’ s (also directed Oldboy and Sympathy For Mr Vengeance) latest movie: I’m A Cyborg.
The movie resolves around a weird girl, Young-goon played by Lim Su-jeong, who has a accute delusional disorder. She thinks that is a cyborg. She works in a factory, essembling computers, where she cut herself in the wrist (accidently?) and passed out. She woke up in the asylum and refused to talk to anybody but the machines. Since she thought that she is a cyborg, she also refused to eat. Instead, she tried to recharge herself by licking a battery.
The story is getting interesting and to make it more interesting, great scenes are there to entertain us. Look at how her toes blink when her battery is running low. And we were also presented by her deluisonal imaginery mechanical organs inside her body.
Korean star, Rain, played as Il-sun also another patient in the asylum, came to the rescue by trying to save her. And just like any other love story, their frequent meeting resulted in a slowly developed romance.
I notice that we don’t have that hair-rising, fear-inducing horror movies lately. Instead of creating a really creepy films, producers seem to think that flesh ripping is more profitable. So, when The Orphanage came, I’m a little glad.
Directed by Juan Antonio Bayona, this Spanish chiller has all the ingredients to make you grab the arm of the person sitting next to you. The story tells about a woman in her thirty named Laura (played by Belén Rueda) who came to a small town with her husband, Carlos (Played by Fernando Cayo) and her adopted son Simon (played by Roger Priacutencep) looking for the orphanage she grew up in. After she found it, it was already flat. She decided to rebuilt and run it. Now, that’s where all the scarry shits happenned.
Started with the missing of Simon, other creepy occurance come to alive. Apparation, slamed doors, clanged pipes and creaking walls are presented in a way that made me didn’t watch the movie alone.
The way they shoot is also quite good. They don’t just suddenly gave us the scarry parts. Instead, they tried to build it slowly yet powerfully. The empty corridors, shocked face, empty room again.
Although I can’t give it an A, a saturday night to watch this movie is an okay choice.
Although not as flyweight as Ghost Raider, or the Fantastic Four or Dare Devil and lacking the myth-splendour in Spiderman 2 or X2 or Batman Begins, still Iron Man is a good to watch Movie.
Created 50 years ago, the character finally showed up in the big screen. Now that is something that i’m wondering about. I mean, all of his kamerads are already kicking bad ass for the past few years. But, Iron Man has to wait 60 years to join the group.
However, the FX is good and the script is well written, witty as they called it. Not to mention Robert Downey Jr’s blue eyes that will surely attracts lots of females to go see him.
The story is full of action-packed scene in which RDJ is showing off his bullet proof and armed shiny (yellow isn’t ?) armour which enable him to combat the insurgent in Afghanistan. Don’t worry about any geopolitical thing to watch this movie. They don’t really matter at all.
If you’re looking for an easy to grasp film and an entertaining one, or just want to see that good looking face of RDJ, then go flock the cinema with your buddies.
It seems that it will be a success. So, be ready with the next sequel…or prequel.

For a family watch, this movie is not so bad. some of the funny scenes are really funny. And the dialogues are also okay, especially if you understand french.
