After the awful performance in Gigli, Ben Afflect is back with a vengeance. He wrote and directed a suspense thriller, bringing his brother (Cassey Affleck) along.
Cramped with lots of Oscar nominees, Gone Baby Gone tells about the suden missing of a little girl in the old and grey Boston - the city where Ben and Casey grew up. Some people tried to find her. Her drug addicted mother, Helena (recent Oscar nominee Amy Ryan), the police chief Jack Doyle (Morgan Freeman) and his detective Remy Bressant played by Ed Harris were involved in the search but to no avail not until Patrick Kenzie (Casey Affleck), a baby-faced private investigators came along.
It has all the ingredient for a good thriller movie. Mystery, kidnapping, drugs, pedophilia and murder. Morgan freeman is showing his fatherly aura, Ed Harris with the temper, and Amy Ryan with her quite sexy appearance.
Ben Afflect’s appearance in this flick may rise some eyeberows. But, Casey has provod to be a good actor here. So, there’s no reason to question Ben’s decision to put him up as a leading role. An in addition, this actually, not Ben Afflect’s first involvement behind the scene. Remember when he got an Oscar co writing Gus Van Sant’s Good Will Hunting?
