If you have watch the first series, Madagascar, you will remember that at the end of the movie, Alex the lion (voiced by Ben Stiller) and his gang of zoo citizen were inside of a plane, crushing very quickly downward. In this movie, we learn that they landed in Africa, new place and new experience.
Still keeping the old cast, (Alex the Lion still voiced by Ben Stiller, Zuba er, what animal is that? A lemur? by the late Bernie Mac, Merman the girrafe by David Schwimmer, Gloria the Hippo by Jada Pinkett Smith, and Marty the zebra by Chris Rock) Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa tries to repeat the success of it predecessor. But, it couldn’t.
Some plots emerged in this flick such as how another hippo chased Gloria, how Marty found out that he’s not the only Zebra that missed a crack, and how Merman met his medical challenge. But, those are only sub-plots. The main thing is about a father and son thing.
Although it was quite funny in some of the scenes, overall, this movie is just below the line of average. There is nothing special about this flick. Okay I admit that the CGI animation is quite good. But, it doesn’t have that emotion-bothering like the ones from Pixar.
One thing for sure, kids would love it.
